SUMMARY:2nd open call for Route 1 expert (non-financial) support (OPEN)
DESCRIPTION:Support programme for repositories and data service providers\nThe FAIR Principles focus on characteristics of digital objects that make them Findable\, Accessible\, Interoperable and Reusable. Achieving and maintaining those characteristics depends on the individuals and organisations that create\, store\, curate\, and preserve the objects. These activities are ‘FAIR-enabling’\, and repositories and data service providers play an important role in facilitating them. \nFAIR-IMPACT is here to help repositories and data service providers  assess your current FAIR-enabling capabilities and develop action plans to improve them. We will introduce you to services and tools that address a wide range of topics\, such as: \n\nRepository policy\, e.g. ACME-FAIR\, Data support policy for photon and neutron science;\nMaking objects in the repository more FAIR\, e.g. CESSDA Data Archiving Guide\, FAIR Cookbook;\nAutomated FAIR assessment\, e.g. F-UJI\, Framework for assessing FAIR services;\nRepository certification\, e.g. CoreTrustSeal+FAIRenabling Capability Maturity Model\, FAIRsFAIR repository support.\n\nWe go beyond the formal FAIR principles and also include guidance for effective strategies to engage with your community and position your organisation in the research landscape. In other words\, we are here to make your organisation more successful.

SUMMARY:Natural Scientific Language Processing and Research Knowledge Graphs
DESCRIPTION:The Extended Semantic Web Conference is a major venue for discussing the latest scientific results and technology innovations around semantic technologies. Building on its past success\, ESWC is seeking to broaden its focus to span other relevant related research areas in which Web semantics plays an important role. \nThe goal of the Semantic Web is to create a Web of knowledge and services in which the semantics of content is made explicit and content is linked to both other content and services allowing novel applications to combine content from heterogeneous sites in unforeseen ways and support enhanced matching between users needs and content. This network of knowledge-based functionality will weave together a large network of human knowledge\, and make this knowledge machine-processable to support intelligent behaviour by machines. Creating such an interlinked Web of knowledge which spans unstructured text\, structured data  as well as multimedia content and services requires the collaboration of many disciplines\, including but not limited to: Artificial Intelligence\, Natural Language Processing\, Databases and Information Systems\, Information Retrieval\, Machine Learning\, Multimedia\, Distributed Systems\, Social Networks\, Web Engineering\, and Web Science. These complementarities are reflected in the outline of the technical program of the ESWC 2024. ESWC 2024 will present the latest results in research\, technologies and applications in its field. Besides the technical program organized over numerous tracks\, the conference will feature a workshop and tutorial program\, system descriptions and demos\, a posters exhibition and a doctoral symposium. \nAll information on the ESWC conference series and past conferences can be found at www.eswc-conferences.org.

SUMMARY:Japan Geoscience Union Meeting 2024
DESCRIPTION:The JpGU Meeting 2024 will be held at Makuhari Messe in Chiba Prefecture for six days from May 26 to 31\, 2024. The coming meeting will be held in a hybrid format\, as was the case in previous two meetings. While retaining the advantages of the hybrid format\, including the ability to allow participation from remote locations\, we will be able to hold more full-fledged face-to-face discussion. I hope that many of the participants will come to the venue to meet face to face and engage in a frank exchange of ideas and opinions. The JpGU is an organization of about 10\,000 individual members and about 50 domestic society members related to Earth and planetary sciences. \nFAIR-EASE at JpGU\nProject coordinator Alessandro Rizzo (IRD) and Jerome Detoc (Ifremer) will give an oral presentation on FAIR Earth and environmental sciences: challenges and opportunities for improving FAIR principles across-domains. The experience of the FAIR-EASE project during the Open and FAIR Science: strategies\, concepts\, infrastructures and opportunities session 9:00-10:15 JST on 28 May 2024.

SUMMARY:IMDIS 2024
DESCRIPTION:The IMDIS series of conferences provides an overview of current information systems addressing the needs of a wide range of users in ocean science. This year’s edition is structured around four main sessions: data services and tools in ocean science; technical developments for marine information and data management; marine environmental infrastructures for observation data; and data products\, information\, and knowledge. \nThe Conference will present different systems for on-line access to data\, meta-data and products\, communication standards and adapted technology to ensure platforms interoperability. Sessions will focus on infrastructures\, technologies and services for different users: environmental authorities\, research\, schools\, universities\, etc.

SUMMARY:Infectious Diseases Toolkit (IDTk) Contentathon 2024
DESCRIPTION:BeYond-COVID (BY-COVID) project collects comprehensive open data on SARS-CoV-2 and other infectious diseases across scientific\, medical\, public health and policy domains. \nInto the Infectious Disease Toolkit (IDTk)\, we gather knowledge we wish we had when the pandemic hit us in the spring of 2020. \nAt the contentathon participants will contribute to writing guidelines for data handling\, analysis and visualisations in the context of infectious diseases. We gather knowledge into the following subsections of IDTkit – attributing credit\, data analysis\, data communication\, data description\, data sources\, ethical legal and social issues\, provenance\, and quality control. Additionally\, applied examples are part of the showcases and country-specific examples form national resources. \nGoal: \n\nProvide content to the pages that are still missing information.\nWrite up more use cases; finish up the pages as much as possible.\nPrepare the paper about IDTkit.\n\nPracticalities: Participants need to cover their own travel expenses\, but local costs will be covered by the organisers (hotel room and food\, except for one dinner in town).

SUMMARY:Your Work | Your Choice.
