SUMMARY:Paris Conference on Open Research Information
DESCRIPTION:Paris Conference on Open Research Information\nThe Paris Conference on Open Research Information\, held at Sorbonne University on 23-24 September 2024\, aims to support the Barcelona Declaration’s signatories by facilitating the exchange of best practices and developing a collaborative roadmap for open research information. The event seeks to enhance transparency\, accessibility\, and the effective dissemination of research data and findings\, fostering a more open and inclusive research environment. \nThe conference spans two days\, with the first day dedicated to presentations from signatories and updates on the Barcelona Declaration. This includes sharing success stories\, challenges\, and innovative approaches to open research. The second day focuses on interactive sessions aimed at collaboratively developing a comprehensive roadmap for open research information. Participants will engage in workshops and discussions to identify priorities\, set actionable goals\, and outline strategies for implementation\, ensuring a cohesive and practical approach to advancing open research practices. \nGraspOS is monitoring the developments of the Barcelona Declaration with great interested as partners of the projects are both signatories and supporters of the declaration. It also aligns perfectly with the GraspOS spirit on enabling OS Aware Responsible Research Assessment. \nFor more information on the Barcelona Declaration\, please go to the website.

Can artificial intelligence help us achieve that? \nOn the afternoon of Monday\, September 23rd\, the Netherlands Commission for Unesco and the Unesco Chair on Diversity and Inclusion in Global Science (Leiden University) will host a workshop on AI and Open Science. The event will focus specifically on engaging societal stakeholders. How can AI applications enable a broader public to become involved in the research process? Can artificial intelligence help launch citizen science projects or enhance scientific volunteerism? \nThe workshop will be held in Leiden at the Pieter de la Court Building\, room 5A.42. The language of the event will be English. \nProgram:\n12:00 h: Unesco\, Open Science\, and AI (Jon Verriet\, Nederlandse Unesco Commissie) \n12:15 h: AI and open engagement of societal actors with presentations from representatives of these projects: WODAN vs. Heritage Quest\, CitiObs\, FORRT \n13:15 h: Discussion \n13:45 h: Coffee break \n14:15 h: Break-out sessions: What do we need to know to start using AI for open engagement of societal actors? \n15:00 h: Panel discussion of questions and feedback from break-out sessions. With representatives from Netherlands eScience Center\, SURF\, Open Science-NL\, and TNO.  \n16:00 h: Next steps: how to connect researchers to AI opportunities for societal engagement. Opportunities for researchers in the Netherlands. \n16:30 h: Networking reception until 18:00 \nRegistration for the workshop is required.
