DESCRIPTION:Open Access Week is an invaluable chance to connect the global momentum toward the open sharing of knowledge with the advancement of policy changes and the importance of social issues affecting people around the world. The event is celebrated by individuals\, institutions\, and organizations around the world\, and its organization is led by a global advisory committee\, which selects each year’s theme. \nThe theme of International Open Access Week for 2024 will continue with last year’s focus on “Community over Commercialization.” This theme contributed to a growing recognition of the need to prioritize approaches to open scholarship that serve the best interests of the public and the academic community. Taking the unprecedented step to build on this theme for a second year highlights the importance of this conversation and presents the opportunity to turn more of these deliberations into collective action.

SUMMARY:EOSCxNFDI
DESCRIPTION:The EOSC Symposium will take place in Berlin from October 21-23\, 2024. NFDI is the mandated organisation for Germany in the EOSC Association and is a partner at the EOSC Symposium. \nNFDI would like to use this opportunity for exchange in Germany and is therefore organising a side event together with EOSC on October 23-24\, 2024. \nThe objective of the side event is to demonstrate the intertwined developments and communities of NFDI and EOSC. It is intended to provide a framework for participants from EOSC and NFDI to address and discuss common topics and facilitate mutual understanding. Presentations\, panel discussions and sufficient time for exchange are planned. Additionally\, an interactive format will be provided with the planned world café. \nWe are pleased to be able to allocate some additional places due to changes in room capacities. We therefore cordially invite you to register for the event: \n  \nEOSCxNFDI \nNFDI side event to the EOSC Symposium \nH4 Hotel Berlin Alexanderplatz \nKarl-Liebknecht-Str. 32\, 10178 Berlin \n  \n23 October (from 4 p.m.) to 24 October 2024 (approx. 3:30 p.m.) \n  \n  \nRegistration \nIf you are able to attend the event\, please register by 25 September at https://eveeno.com/eoscxnfdi. We will keep you up to date via the portal in future and provide you with further information on the agenda and travelling to the event. \n  \nPlease note: Registration is on a first-come-first-served basis. If the available places are full\, there will be a waiting list. \n  \nTaking part in the event is completely free of charge. Unfortunately\, we cannot cover the costs of accommodation and travel. \n  \nRegistration for the EOSC Symposium and EOSCxNFDI takes place separately. The EOSC Symposium is now fully booked on site\, but the online participation is still possible. \n  \nEvening Programme \nAn evening event is also planned for 23 October. This will take place from 6.30 pm at the Landesvertretung Schleswig-Holstein (Schleswig-Holstein State Representation)\, In den Ministergärten 8\, 10117 Berlin.
