SUMMARY:Shape the Future of Research Data Curation in Europe!
DESCRIPTION:Join us in Leuven\, Belgium\, on October 1-2\, 2025\, for a transformative 2-day workshop to establish the European Expert Curation Network! \nAre you passionate about research data curation\, quality management\, and long-term preservation? Do you want to be at the forefront of shaping FAIR and TRUST principles for the future? This is your chance to collaborate with leading experts and make a lasting impact. \n  \nWhy Attend?\nThe EOSC EDEN project invites research data curation and long-term preservation experts to a hands-on workshop where we will: \n\nLay the foundations of a European Expert Curation Network.\nShare expertise\, experiences\, and best practices.\nBuild a collaborative vision for advancing data curation and long-term preservation across disciplines and repositories.\n\nThis workshop is the first of two events designed to bring together experts from diverse domains\, including organizations\, repositories (generalist/specialist)\, collections\, and digital object types. Together\, we aim to harmonize curation practices and address the challenges of ensuring that data remains FAIR over time. \n  \nEvent Details\n📅 Dates: October 1-2\, 2025 \n📍 Venue: Leuven\, Belgium \n💡 Travel Support Available: We will be offering travel support for selected participants. Participants will be selected based on criteria to ensure a balanced and diverse representation. This includes expertise in research data curation and long-term preservation\, as well as coverage across disciplines\, organization types\, and digital object types. \n  \nWho Should Attend?\nWe are looking for approx. 20 experts with: \n\nExpertise in research data curation\, quality management\, or long-term preservation.\nRepresentation across organizations\, repositories\, collections\, or digital object types.\nA commitment to advancing FAIR+Time and TRUST principles.\n\nIf you and your organization are ready to lead the way in long-term FAIR data practices\, this workshop is for you! \nA second workshop is planned in 2026\, focusing more on training and endorsement of the EOSC EDEN project outcomes. \n  \nWhy This Matters\nCuration is the cornerstone of long-term digital preservation\, yet it remains a challenge for many institutions. By establishing a European Expert Curation Network\, we aim to: \n\nAddress gaps in expertise and experience.\nProvide a platform for collaboration and knowledge exchange.\nHarmonize curation practices across disciplines and repositories.\nEnsure data remains accessible and reusable as technology evolves.\n\nThis initiative is part of the EOSC EDEN project\, which will develop and establish a framework to identify what data are candidates for long-term preservation based on use\, benefit\, and quality and a model for re-appraisal points along data lifecycle and test usability. EOSC EDEN will identify practices to support the creation of curation\, long-term preservation\, and access strategies in Europe.
