SUMMARY:OASPA 2026 conference
DESCRIPTION:The OASPA 2026 annual conference will take place at Hotel Dubrovnik\, Zagreb in Croatia from 21 – 23 September 2026. \nThe programme will tackle today’s most pressing challenges in open scholarly communication with a focus on interactivity and interchange. Selected lightning talks will spark connections and new ideas. Meanwhile\, panels and keynotes will discuss and invite your questions on: \n\n\n\n\n\nThe importance of open knowledge in society;\nThe meaning(s) of sustainability in open access;\nThe value of interoperable open infrastructure;\nThe feasibility of algorithmic governance in the age of artificial intelligence;\nThe re-centering of trust and reciprocity in open scholarly communications;\nHow OA agreements evolve into next generation collaborations based on shared values.\n\n\n\n\n\nThe programme will also encourage sharing of views about reforming research(er) evaluation and the future of open research. And our interactive conference closing session will synthesise reflections from all three days and seek your inputs to feed into a post-conference working group for principles\, practices and partnerships that build a more open\, usable and reliable scholarly record. \nJoin us this September in Croatia to exchange thoughts with a global network of experts and peers\, and to help us shape the future of open access. \n  \nRegistration\n  \nAccommodation\nHotel Dubrovnik has a limited number of bedrooms that can be booked. Sponsorship is crucial for us to be able to hold the event –Sponsorship packages brochure. \nEmail sponsorships@oaspa.org for information. \n  \nKeep Up to Date\nYou can sign up for conference updates by registering on our mailing list. \n  \n\n\nDORA satellite workshop event at OASPA 2026\n\nThe Declaration on Research Assessment (DORA) will host a co-creation workshop for publishers and journals as a satellite event of OASPA 2026 on Thursday September 24. \nThis invitation-only workshop will bring together publishers\, journal editors\, publishing professionals\, infrastructure providers\, and other system actors to explore the evolving connections between publishing and research assessment. The focus will be on collaboratively developing a Practical Guide for Publishers and Journals to support the implementation of responsible research assessment across editorial policies\, peer review practices\, use of metrics\, communications and more.  \nThe event builds on DORA’s previous Practical Guides for research performing and funding organizations\, using a co-creation model developed with the global community to create these resources. DORA Chairs Virginia Barbour\, Kelly Cobey and Rebecca Lawrence will facilitate the workshop. \nThe workshop will take place on Thursday 24 September 2026 following the OASPA conference\, at the conference venue\, Hotel Dubrovnik in Zagreb. Participation will be by invitation only\, and you can delcare your interest to join when registering for OASPA. \n\nPlease direct any questions to info@sfdora.org
