SUMMARY:Series of webinars: The Data Act in contracts
DESCRIPTION:Help us develop model contractual terms for data sharing and standard contractual clauses for switching between data processing services (cloud computing contracts) by sharing your opinion. \n\n\n\nBefore the Data Act starts applying from 12 September 2025\, the Commission will recommend model contractual terms for data access and use and standard contractual clauses for cloud computing. The Commission has set up an Expert Group to develop these models\, which will form the basis for the Commission Recommendation in 2025. These models intend to help especially small and medium-size companies and other organisations which may lack resources to draft and negotiate fair contractual clauses for data sharing or for cloud computing. \nIn November and December 2024\, the Commission will be hosting a series of 6 webinars with businesses\, policymakers\, lawyers\, and experts to discuss the development of both the draft Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) for cloud computing contracts and the draft Model Contractual Terms (MCTs) for data sharing. \nThe webinars are open to Member State authorities\, companies\, lawyers\, professors\, and organisations. You can register via the links below to take part in the discussions and help shape the contracts. Note that registrations will only be accepted if a professional email address is provided. \nFollowing registration\, participants will receive a Webex link and relevant documentation to support the discussion (including draft model terms and clauses) a few days before the event. \nWebinars\n20 November – Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs)\nThis webinar will cover SCCs implementing the provisions of the Data Act: Switching and Exit\, Termination\, Security and business continuity. Registration fom \n21 November –  Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs)\n\nThis webinar will cover SCCs on Liability\, Non-amendment\, Non-dispersion. Registration form \n27 November  – Model Contractual Terms (MCTs)\nThe topics covered in this webinar includes the contract between data holders and data users\, as well as the data use by the data holder\, arrangements for access to data by the user\, and transfer of the connected product to successors. Registration form \n28 November – Model Contractual Terms (MCTs)\nThe topics covered in this webinar includes the contract between data holders and data recipients but also the link with the user’s request\, the contract between the data recipient and the user\, as well as the ways in which data can be accessed by the data recipient. Registration form \n4 December – Model Contractual Terms (MCTs)\nThis webinar will cover the reasonable compensation for making data available agreed between data holders and data recipients under the Data Act\, as well as a possible compensation for the user in exchange of access and use of the data by the data holder in certain circumstances (for example when the user agrees not to share the data with other entities). Registration form \n5 December – Model Contractual Terms (MCTs)\nThis webinar covers voluntary data sharing and is relevant for bilateral or multilateral data sharing agreements but also for the use of MCTs in data spaces. Registration form

SUMMARY:Open Science and Reproducible Research in RStudio and Jupyter Notebook
DESCRIPTION:In the first part of this two-day workshop\, participants will learn the basics of open science and reproducible research. \nThey will learn the difference between replicability and computational reproducibility\, know what FAIR data is\, and be aware of how to handle personal and sensitive data. \nIn the second part\, participants will learn the basic reproducible research workflow for the three main stages of research (i.e. data acquisition\, data processing\, and data analysis) by using tools such as RStudio\, Jupyter Notebooks\, and the version control system GIT. \nParticipants will find out how to organize a research project using RStudio and Jupyter Notebooks\, how to use Quarto and Markdown for documenting the research steps\, how to organize files and folders\, and how to use the version control system GIT for collaboration.
