The project Shared RDM Infrastructure and Services official Kick-Off took place during the 5th and 6th of July at the Technische Universität Graz. The project Shared RDM Infrastructure and Services aims to create a framework for offering selected tools and infrastructures in the field of RDM as shared services for Austrian universities and research institutions.

The Kick Off was hosted by project lead Technische Universität Graz and brought together all project partners: Technische Universität Wien, Universität Wien, Medische Universität Graz, Universität Innsbruck, Akamdemie der bildenden Künste Wien, Universität Graz, Wirstchaftsuniversität Wien, Johannes Kepler Universität Linz, Veterinärmedizinische Universität Wien, Medizinische Universität Wien and Universität für Bodenkultur Wien.

On the first day of the Kick-Off, the project partners took a dive into the mission, goals and structure of the project. The different work packages were introduced and the partners identified their needs for the project and potential use cases in break out sessions. Discussions on data stewardship models, RDM-training strategies and RDM-tools presented the heterogenous needs of the different institutions to implementing specific RDM-services. The day ended with a dinner at Der Steier in the city center of Graz.

The second day started with a recap of the first day, presenting the most important outcomes from the break out sessions. The recap was followed by two key notes.
The first key note of Andreas Rauber of TU Wien, Head of Vienna Scientific Cluster (VSC) Research Center, discussed the HPC Services for the Austrian research community. The VSC Research Center represents a successful example of a joined undertaking based on the commitment of all participating institutions to continuously financing the maintenance and upgrades of the first-class computational cluster, available as a service also to other research institutions.
The second key note came from Thomas Dietinger of TU Graz, head of OE VPU, and discussed Shared RDM Services & Infrastructures in Administration on the example of a management tool of the recruiting suite EPAS+. This tool was developed as open source solution also offered to other research institutions.
The Kick Off ended with a summary on all discussed topics and lunch to celebrate the official launch of the project Shared RDM Infrastructure and Services.
