Why This Matters
Curation is the cornerstone of long-term digital preservation, yet it remains a challenge for many institutions. By establishing a European Expert Curation Network, we aim to:
- Address gaps in expertise and experience.
- Provide a platform for collaboration and knowledge exchange.
- Harmonize curation practices across disciplines and repositories.
- Ensure data remains accessible and reusable as technology evolves.
This initiative is part of the EOSC EDEN project, which will develop and establish a framework to identify what data are candidates for long-term preservation based on use, benefit, and quality and a model for re-appraisal points along data lifecycle and test usability. EOSC EDEN will identify practices to support the creation of curation, long-term preservation, and access strategies in Europe. In collaboration with our sister project FIDELIS, we will work to facilitate the sustainable embedding of the European Expert Curation Network to ensure its long-term growth after the conclusion of the project.
